Thermoelectric Generation

Central Vuelta de Obligado

On 05/31/2011 a Trust was made and it was established that Compañía Administradora del Mercado Mayorista Eléctrico S.A. – CAMMESA – (as trustor and administrator of the Wholesale Electricity Market funds and accounts), sticking to the regulations of the National Secretariat of Energy (as regulatory authority of the funds of the Wholesale Electricity Market), will transfer the BICE (as trustee), the total amount of the funds to build the Combined Cycle Thermoelectric Center called ‘Central Vuelta de Obligado’. It is a turnkey project and is about the design, manufacture, supply, transport, building, assembly, start-up, start-up trials and final tests of a 2×1 combined cycle thermoelectric center, destined to generating electricity with a net power of about 800 MV under ISO conditions and new and clean equipment, of 50 Hz, designed to serve in base and/or semi-base service (partial load) using natural gas, diesel oil or a mixture of diesel oit and biodiesel as fuel. It is being built on a piece of land next to the Timbúes Center on the shores of Coronda River, in the district of Timbúes, Departament of San Lorenzo, Province of Santa Fe, and electrically linked to the Argentine Interconnection System (SADI in Spanish) in the 500 KV net, through the extension, as part of the project, of the existing Transformer Station called Río Coronda.

MBT

The BICE, as trustee of the Trust Funds “Timbúes Thermoelectric Center” and “Manuel Belgrano Thermoelectric Center”, takes part in the MBT Trust as trustor, aimed at providing the necessary resources to finish the Project of both centers, to pay for the advance payments for spare parts according to the maintenance contracts and to cancel the short-term financing they received for such purpose. The projects consists of the completion, start-up, “commercial authorization” and operation (for ten years) of two combined cycle-type centers, with a power of 823 MW, located in Campana, province of Buenos Aires and Timbúes, province of Santa Fe. The budget amounts to USD 415 million.

Timbúes and Manuel Belgrano Thermoelectric Centers

On 4 April 2006 two trust funds were created among the Secretariat of Energy, CAMMESA, and the BICE, called “Manuel Belgrano Thermoelectric Center Trust” y “Timbúes Thermoelectric Center Trust”, to build two thermoelectric centers and to operate them for 10 years as from the commercial authorization date (extensible to 4 years, if the parties wish so).

Both centers were commercially licensed during 2010 and are working under the combined cycle type, supplying the 1623 MW Argentine Interconnection System (SADI); the first of them located in Campana, Province of Buenos Aires and the second in Timbúes, Province of Santa Fe.

Guillermo Brown Thermoelectric Center Trust

On 04/11/2011 a Trust was made and it was established that Compañía Administradora del Mercado Mayorista Eléctrico S.A. – CAMMESA – (as trustor and administrator of the Wholesale Electricity Market funds and accounts), sticking to instructions of the National Secretariat of Energy (as regulatory authority of the Wholesale Electricity Market funds), will transfer the BICE (as trustee), the total amount of funds to build the Thermoelectric Center called ‘Guillermo Brown Thermoelectric Center ’.

The Project consists of the design, manufature, supply, transport, construction, assembly, start-up, start-up trials and final tests of an power generation center, new and with approved technology, made up of two turbines (TG1 and TG2) with a net power of about 300 MV under ISO conditions, designed to work in base and/or semi-base services (partial load) using natural gas, diesel oil, or a mixture of diesel oil and biodiesel as fuel.

It is being built on a piece of land next to the industrial area of General Daniel Cerri, district of Bahía Blanca, Province of Buenos Aires, and electrically linked to the Argentine Interconnection System (SADI) in the 500 KV net.
